HACC Patron 2024

Now in its ninth year, the Hawaii Annual Code Challenge (HACC) has grown into a successful annual hackathon while connecting state government and IT businesses with technology-focused students and workers. This year, the State of Hawaii, University of Hawaii, and IMAG Foundation will continue to be the proud organizers of HACC 2024.

Here are a few highlights that make the HACC unique compared to other hackathons around the country.

  • Participants have an extended time to develop their ideas and a proof-of-concept
  • There are several challenges from state and local government agencies and non-profit organizations
  • Challenges are focused on broad community applications with technology solutions
  • Challenges are linked to valuable real-world experience
  • The HACC is an opportunity to connect with industry professionals and organizations

As we continue to grow, the enthusiasm and excitement for the HACC is reflected in the numbers from last year.
Here’s a look at HACC 2023’s reach:

Thanks to feedback from our sponsors and participants, we are organizing new events for 2024 that complement and build upon the skills and knowledge needed to be successful at the HACC and in participants careers. These changes will build on HACC 2023’s momentum and take the Hawaii Annual Code Challenge to the next level!

So, we’ve decided to continue HACC 2023’s momentum and take the Hawaii Annual Code Challenge to the next level!

The goal is to both provide our participants with opportunities to develop their knowledge of the latest tools and techniques, and to connect directly with professionals, building work experience with HACC partner organizations – state/local agencies along with for-profit and nonprofit organizations. The 2024 HACC program will now include skills development workshops and post-HACC internship opportunities including:

Expanded Tech Resource Events and Employment Opportunities

  • Monthly Work Skills and Readiness Workshops starting in the summer
    • Low/No Code, Generative Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning tools
    • Work Readiness, and Professional Development
  • Post Presentation Day “Job and Internship” Expo
  • Internships stipends for selected participants

Participants take part in the HACC at no cost due to contributions from our partners and patrons. All funds and in-kind donations go toward supporting the year-around program, event activities, internships, and awards. All funds will be received and handled by IMAG Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, making all contributions 100% tax deductible.

We would greatly appreciate your organization as a sponsor of the bigger and better 2024 Hawaii Annual Code Challenge. Please see the Patron Benefits Package for more details.
