Getting Started with AI Coding Tools
The Workshop provided an overview of the most popular AI coding tools. Instructors will demo specific tools, share tips and walk through a few methods to help you build great software for your HACC project. In this first hour, Instructors will share their experiences with AI coding and demo a few of their favorites.
If you want to preview some of those tools, search online tutorials or videos for:
Aider
Cursor
Windsurf
Cline/Roo Code
Lovable.dev
In the second hour, they guided attendees through setting these tools up on their own computer, and let attendees try out a few brainstorming techniques to help get their ideas ready for AI coding. The team cover these tools:
Lovable (https://lovable.dev)
Cursor (https://cursor.com/)
Tempo Labs (https://www.tempo.new/)
Claude Code (https://www.claude.com/
OpenAI Codex CLI (https://developers.openai.
Many of these options have a free tier, but because of lower performance and usage limits, we recommend using a paid account or API key, once you identify the tool that’s right for your HACC projects.
If you have questions for the Instructor please reach out to them on Slack at #p_torch
